Expansion

Near my home there are many fields where I walk and I also used for my shoot ‘the walkway’. Recently it was decided that they would be used for housing development. I  wanted this shoot to show the hopelessness I felt at not being able to stop the housing from being built similarly as I feel hopelessness towards the inevitability of aging.

Style wise I once again went for an ambiguity of time via my clothes and makeup. The background is of the buildings that have already been completed and with the oversaturated colours, I think it creates a simulated feel. The buildings are identical and lack any character which gives a nightmarish and dissociative effect on the area. As we require more low-cost housing, we sacrifice beautiful living spaces and individuality.

I included the purple scissors to stand out against my black and white blazer. I wanted some sort of destructive tool that is helpless against brick. We are helpless to stop the progress of these buildings just as we are unable to stop the process of aging.
