The Tired Woman

This shoot was another turning point in my project as it explores my fear of aging and confronts it. I wore what could be described as business attire which emphasises my curves that I have never liked as a challenge to myself. In the main piece from this collection I appear slouched (tired) and stare defiantly at the camera. I want this image to show how exhausting it is to be an adult woman and the physical and emotional toll it takes. I chose bold eyeshadow to contrast with white eyelashes and eyebrows to draw some focus onto my face yet the focal point of the image is my red coat which is where you can see the curves I usually would hide. The red of the coat is in contrast to the extreme coldness of the rest of the image as well as taking up the majority of the photo which demands the attention of the viewer.

I took inspiration from Jenny Saville for this piece as her paintings are larger than life and are almost bursting off of the canvas. I wanted my tired woman to do the same.
