Vision

I wanted to have a shoot that was not self-portraits so I created the shoot ‘vision’. It goes back more to my original idea of changing facial features in order to show a separation from reality. The photos focal point is the models makeup which was inspired by the shoot Tim Walker did for I-D magazine featuring Eddie Campbell. I liked how the raised arches of the eyeshadow changed the shape of the face.

I edited her eyes to be milky as if she has cataracts to show a distorted perception of reality which is fitting with the Tim Burton-esque styling. Tim Burton's films often leave you questioning the world around you and your sense of reality. I used studio lighting to create harsh light and shadows and I also like the control that they give you over the lighting. I also took the photo into Procreate to fix any patchiness of the makeup and add texture to the mouth. I think this was important in giving the model less of a relatability as they are unrealistically perfect.
